Lottery Loss and Profit, balance sheet accounting.

You are a homeless person, your net worth is $0.00. You purchase a lottery ticket, and go home. You then go swimming (before or after the lottery announcement takes place) and your lottery ticket is ruined. On coming out of the water you discover the lottery ticket is destroyed. You cannot remember the time/date/location of your purchase of the ticket.

That night, the same numbers you always play are shown across the television. The prize is $1,000,000. As the last ball falls and you realize these are your numbers, you also realize the ticket has been destroyed and you will not be able to claim your winnings.

HAVE YOU LOST $1,000,000 ?

Facts:
The state still has the $1,000,000 even though you cannot collect.
You never had $1,000,000 to lose.
You cannot claim the loss on your tax filings.
You never had $1,000,000 to lose
If you did claim a loss of $1,000,000 and the state still has that money,
That would equal $2,000,000.

HAVE YOU LOST $1,000,000 ?
I would really like to know the reasoning.

PC Computer Hurricane, Tropical Storm

What should you do with your personal computer in case of a hurricane or tropical storm ? MAKE SURE you have a backup of all your data to some type of drive. Your PC should be backed up in multiple locations to insure data integrity. The best case would be to enclose the computer in plastic such as visqueen or garbage bags may suffice, make sure they are unplugged and shut down. 6 to 12 inches of the ground would be preferred.

The garbage bag or visqueen will protect your computer from flood or rain damage in a hurricane / tropical storm. Placing it inside a concrete area will help to insure against computer damage. Roof breaches due to wind or trees are the most common points of damage to technology equipment. Water is the enemy to information technology.

Nothing, however will come to the rescue like backup data. In a hurricane or tropical storm, having multiple locations with backup data is key. NEVER, be caught without a backup ! Backup data is critical in a hurricane and a tropical storm !

Random

If you followed a recipe precisely 100 times, would each outcome taste the same? It would, wouldn't it? Why? Every atom in the universe obeys a set of laws, the laws of physics. With law comes predeterminability. Everything in the universe is based on mathematics. Mathematics is a medium known to be predetermined. Pick a number, any number. Now pick and add another to it. As you calculate the sum realize what it is you are about to do. You discovered that which was already there, the sum. Like mathematics, invention/creativity works the same way. There is no invention, only the discovery of what was already there. Do you know what else this reveals? Random does not exist in the universe either!

The Myriad

Is it possible that humanity has reached the tipping point in the quest for an ideal government? A point where there is no longer, the ability to agree with one another in a public or social setting. More importantly, the inability to come to a common understanding of a 'myriad' of variables ? Myriad by definition is...

1. a very great or indefinitely great number of persons or things.
2. ten thousand.
–adjective
3. of an indefinitely great number; innumerable: the myriad stars of a summer night.

When you think of the US, with it's "two views" on society, democratic, and republic. Can you not help but think of summing up millions of views into one of two classes ? Certainly it is impossible. I love Ron Paul and Ross Perot as leaders of the US. As a mostly republican, independent, I understand the importance of introducing a third party view. The libertarian party. Though I dislike having my opinions on the myriad of variables dwindled down and stereotyped into even one of three traditional views. There are far too many issues to be dealt with, and far to many arguments for each to place me neatly into any one of the three.

Is it possible that due to the complexity of social issues that the unintended consequences of the myriad of variables makes it impossible to come to an agreement with any traditional/stereotyped Group of thinking ? Is it possible that the two dominating parties like it this way? Where anyone you walk up to in America has to be summed up in one of X amount of views on an incredible complex issue ? It certainly does assure that half of Americans won't agree with the other half. It does that very well. But what if there are varying levels of disagreement about governments involvement with the many possibilities of a myriad of variables? Then things get exponential.

It might just be that the two party system has been a failure from the start and that much more work needs to be done to encapsulate the myriad views on the infinite variables on law, government, life, and their involvement within one another. There are far too many opinions in today's day and age to ignore that fall into neither category. This middle ground needs to be examined, and clarified to show that there are many considerations when issuing new laws, or revising established ones. I truly hope we innovate a new and more effective and efficient means of governing masses of humans.
